THE ARTS PICNIC

THE ARTS PICNIC:
An afternoon of creative activism
Saturday 12th July 2014
12-4pm

Bringing together Big Dance and the Festival of Blackboards the Arts Picnic is a collaboration between Cubitt, Sadler's Wells, Islington Council and Wayne McGregor | Random Dance

On the 12th of July Spa Fields in EC1, Islington will be transformed into a buzzing dance and visual art festival. Inspired by Bob and Roberta Smith's Art Party Conference, we're holding our own local event to celebrate the power of the arts as a force for a creative, democratic and activist spirit.

Throughout the afternoon there will be contemporary dance performances from renowned dance company Wayne McGregor | Random Dance, plus performances of newly commissioned work created by the company with members of the local community.

Alongside this there will be a host of other activities to get involved in, such as face painting,
visual art workshops, a Drawing Bootcamp, bingo, activist pass-the parcel, arts and crafts stalls, zine-making, customise your own picnic blanket, parkour workshops, games and a Suffragette’s garden party.

Families, children, artists, dancers, grandparents and activists welcome
